As a Listed Breed,
Parson Russell Terriers are eligible to compete in performance events in the
Canadian Kennel Club (e.g. obedience, agility) and effective September 1, 2006
will also be able to compete in championship conformation shows. The purpose
of this document is to outline the requirements and process to be followed in
having your PRT CKC certified.
In order to enter CKC shows, a PRT must be issued a
Miscellaneous number by the CKC
Preparation:
-
In order to be eligible for certification, the CKC requires
that the PRT have a certified three generation pedigree issued by a
recognized registry. In North America, the only registry currently
recognized is the AKC. If your dog is from England, then the export pedigree
from The Kennel Club is needed. If imported from an FCI country, the FCI
pedigree is the required document. If in any doubt, contact the CKC
registrations department directly for clarification.
-
The CKC requires that a dog must be uniquely identified with
either a tattoo or implanted with a microchip that is in compliance with CKC
requirements. Since August 1, 2005, ISO microchips have been required by the
CKC. However, if your dog was chipped prior to that date, and the chip was
one from the CKC, it is also acceptable. More information on this available
online at the CKC - follow the link
here.
-
Obtain the application form from the CKC. For Canadian
residents, there are 2 possible forms that can be used.
a) An
“Application to Register a Dog Born in Canada” that can be obtained from the
CKC by either calling Sheniza in the registrations department, emailing
smalatombee@ckc.ca and she will send you one, or by downloading it from
this website here.
b) By
downloading the form “Application For Registration of Foreign Born Dog
Imported to Canada” from the CKC website
here.
Residents of the
USA should obtain the form “Application for Registration of AKC Registered Dog
owned by a Resident of USA” – follow the above link. Complete the forms as per
the instructions provided with them. Assistance is best obtained by contacting
Sheniza in registrations by telephone or emailing her at the address in option
a) above.
-
Send the completed form along with the Certified Pedigree
and your AKC registration slip (the originals are required) to the CKC – the
address is provided on the application forms. Your AKC documents will be
returned. It is suggested you clearly mark “Miscellaneous Registration” on
the outside of the envelope, otherwise they may float around the rest of the
office until they figure out what to do with them.
Payment will be required as per the CKC Schedule of Fees – downloadable from
the CKC website here.
If you are a CKC member you can have it charged to your CKC membership
account.
